At the beginning of the school year I decided to make the move to flexible seating in our library. Doing this created an inviting reading area for the students and it has been a big hit! I have had more students coming into the library than previously and there are more and more students taking advantage of this area to read.
I love finding new and fun ways to get students to read. I hope that through this and some of our collection development practices that we can help students find that one book that sets them on the path of loving to read.
My name is Naomi Emory and I am the librarian at Sloan Creek Intermediate School in Fairview, Texas. In the sidebar of the site you will see a selection of my “Currently Reading” shelf from GoodReads. I try my best to keep this updated, but sometimes I fall a bit behind.
When I finish a book I will write a book review on Book Likes. You can follow this link to see books I have read and reviewed. I am currently working my way through the Texas Bluebonnet Award Nominee list. Next I will go through our March Madness List. For more information on these two reading incentives see the “Reading Incentives” page on this website.
When there is anything new and exciting going on in the library I will use this blog section to share the fun!
Have a great day and happy reading!
